Major police presence in Welsh town with one man arrested

A 35-year-old man has been arrested following a police incident, with officers confirming there is no ongoing risk to the public

Police are in attendance on Rhigos Road near Aberdare, just before the New Inn pub, following a serious incident earlier this evening. A 35-year-old man from Rhigos has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

Officers said there was no ongoing risk to the public, and they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident. A police presence remains in the area and drivers are being advised to plan alternative routes and avoid the area while emergency services are at the scene.

A South Wales Police spokesperson said: “Officers are in attendance following an incident on Rhigos Road, Rhondda Cynon Taf, in close proximity to the New Inn.

“A 35-year-old man from Rhigos has been arrested and is currently in police custody. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

“There remains a police presence in the area. Please plan any travel to avoid this area while emergency services are at the scene.”

Witnesses claim around 10 police cars are at the scene. We are awaiting an update from South Wales Police with further details regarding the nature of the incident.
