West End power couple Georgina Castle and Simon Lipkin got married at the end of the summer – but only the bride escaped for a honeymoon abroad to soak up some winter sun
Mamma Mia! star Georgina Castle has revealed she has gone on “honeymoon without my husband”. The actress joined her parents to enjoy a romantic getaway without her other half. The 33-year-old West End star – who has also featured in productions of Dirty Dancing, Mean Girls, and Elf – recently tied the knot with fellow stage actor Simon Lipkin, 39.
But while Georgina has been able to find the time for some winter sun, Simon has been too busy performing to be able to get away. Instead, Georgina joined her parents – tennis icon and former Strictly contestant Andrew Castle, 62, and mum Sophia – for a sun-soaked break to the Maldives.
Taking to Instagram, the star gave fans, followers and her husband at home a look at some of the highlights from her trip. In an amusing caption, she explained: “I crashed my parents’ romantic holiday and went on a honeymoon without my husband!!” Georgina continued: “I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to end the year like this & with family.”
Adding to her husband – who is currently starring as Fagan in a production of Oliver! on Shaftesbury Avenue – she wrote: “Simon I can’t wait for us to do something amazing soon…with a few less sharks you’ll be relieved to hear.” She added a long line of emojis to the caption, including fish, turtles, sharks and suns.

Images showed Georgina laying on the pristine sandy beaches while wearing bikinis, getting to grips with flyboards out in the crystal waters, and swimming alongside sea life beneath the waves. Posing for a family portrait alongside her parents, Georgina, Andrew and Sophia looked in good spirits as they smiled for the camera while wearing snorkeling gear.
The trip comes three months after Georgina and Simon swapped vows in front of family and friends. The happy couple have shared photographs from their wedding day – which saw Georgina dazzle in an array of dressed. While the bride and groom also posed for snaps in the heart of London.
After uploading a number of images to her Instagram, Georgina wrote a gushing statement about her heart as she prepared for the next chapter in her life.
She wrote: “There was something very special about getting married in the heart of the city that we love. A sunset on the beach will always be beautiful but sometimes there’s nothing more romantic than the neons of a tube sign, old brickwork arches and the energy of London.”
She continued: “An evening full of love, laughter, incredible music, speeches we’ll remember for the rest of our lives, delicious cake, dancing, cocktails, more cake and more music!! Thank you to everyone who made it so special! Also thank you so so so so so so much @maramariebridal for designing me the party look of my dreams!!”
She went on: “I went into her store and fell in love with the full length version of this mini but I’d already chosen my wedding dress so she super kindly offered to design this party dress for me that had all my favourite elements of the original and it was PERFECT!! I could dance the night away, whack my hair up into a pony and really let loose!”
Urging other women to visit the gown expert, Georgina wrote: “visit her because she’s the bloody best” Georgina and Simon both performed in stage adaptations of the comedy film Elf – with the pair appearing in West End productions in 2022 and 2023.
More recently, Georgina has starred in a West End version of the film 50 First Dates – with a musical adaptation of the movie taking over The Other Palace in Victoria earlier this year.
Reality show fans will recall that Georgina’s father, former British number 1 tennis star, Andrew Castle, was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2008. He was paired with professional dancer Ola Jordan – but the duo failed to win the season six crown.
Andrew and Ola were knocked out in week seven, while the season was won by Holby City actor Tom Chambers and his dance partner Camilla Sacre-Dallerup. The other celebrity finalists that year were S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens and her dance partner Vincent Simone, and modelling sensation Lisa Snowdon and her dance partner Brendan Cole.
