The next hearing is due to take place on Wednesday, January 28
The man accused of carrying out the Huntingdon train attack has refused to appear in court. Anthony Williams, 32, of Langford Road, Peterborough, was supposed to enter his plea for the 21 charges in relation to the train attack as well as separate incidents in Peterborough and London in the run up to the attack at Cambridge Crown Court today (Monday, December 1).
Mr Williams was supposed to appear in court via a video link but refused to attend the hearing. Mr Arnold, on behalf of Mr Williams, said an application has been put forward for a psychiatric assessment of Anthony Williams to take place before any pleas were entered, which would take six weeks.
Judge Mark Bishop has given the prosecution and defence two days to look over the report. A date for the next hearing in court has been set for Wednesday, January 28.
William is accused of 10 counts of attempted murder, possession of a bladed article, and actual bodily harm in connection with the attack in Huntingdon on November 1.
He is also accused of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article following an incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station in London, and attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man in Peterborough on October 31.
Other charges include attempted wounding with intent of a 28-year-old man, possession of a bladed article, and affray in Peterborough on October 31.
He has also been charged with common assault of a 31-year-old man on a train travelling between Hitchin and Biggleswade on November 1.
An application was also put in to join the two sets of charges against Williams, which would make 21 charges. The defence had no objections to this.
Judge Bishop also set a provisional date for Williams’ trial as Monday, June 22. The custody time limit for Williams is currently Friday, May 1, so an application for this to be extended will be put forward.
