Police are appealing for information after the crash

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after a crash involving a parked lorry. Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash on the A1 at Peterborough at around 3pm on Friday (December 19).

A motorcyclist, which was being ridden by a 40-year-old man, is thought to have crashed into the back of a parked lorry. The lorry was travelling from the A1 at Haddon onto the A1139 eastbound, and then parked on the hold shoulder.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Cambridgeshire Police is appealing for information.

A police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorbike crashed into a parked lorry on the A1 at Peterborough. The Volvo lorry was travelling from junction 17 of the A1 at Haddon onto the A1139 eastbound when it pulled onto the hard shoulder at about 3pm on Friday (19 December).

“The Honda motorcycle, being ridden by a 40-year-old man, crashed into the rear of the HGV after it had stopped. The rider was airlifted to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.”
