Man and woman in a police chase in Sowerby, Thirsk
North Yorkshire Police have said that two people have been arrested near Thirsk last night after police caught up with a car after a chase
It took place just before 10.35pm last night (December 29) when officers on patrol spotted a car ‘driving erratically’ in Sowerby, which did not pull over after the police turned on their sirens and blue lights.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Instead of pulling over, the driver made off towards the A168 – at speeds of up to 60mph in a 20mph limit. With police in hot pursuit, the car eventually came to a halt, and the occupants made off on foot.
“Officers chased after them, and the NPAS police helicopter arrived in the skies overhead. A man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s were soon arrested nearby.”
The man was arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop, whereas the woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers and resisting arrest.
Both spent the night in police custody.
