A man was approached from behind and threatened with a knife during a robbery in South Belfast on Friday.

Police are appealing for information following the incident which took place at around 6.30pm in the Ireton Street area, off Botanic Avenue on November 28.

It was reported that a man was walking along the street when another man approached him from behind, placed a knife against his body and demanded he hand over a necklace.

The suspect has been described as around 6ft tall with short ginger hair and was dressed in a dark coloured hoodie and biege trousers.

Detective Sergeant Long said: “Shortly after 6.30pm, it was reported that a male had been walking in the Ireton Street area when he was approached by a man from behind who placed a knife against his torso and demanded that he hand over a necklace. “The suspect is described as being approximately six feet in height, with short ginger hair, and was dressed in a dark coloured hoodie and beige trousers. “We are appealing to anyone who has any information, or CCTV or other footage which might assist, to get in touch. “The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1246 of 28/11/25.”
