Man ‘assaulted’ outside Tesco North Road in Durham

Police and paramedics were called to North Road just after 6pm on Friday (January 2) after the man was attacked outside Tesco.

He was taken to hospital and an investigation launched, but police said it could not be progressed due to “evidential difficulties”.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “A man was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

“An investigation was carried out although not able to be progressed due to evidential difficulties.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call to 999 at 6.08pm on January 2 to reports of a person injured outside Tesco on North Road in Durham. 

“We sent one emergency ambulance crew and took one patient to hospital.”
