Man dies after being found at the side of Acomb Road, York

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said officers were alerted at 4.30pm yesterday (Thursday, December 11) to reports of a cyclist lying in Acomb Road, Holgate, close to the entrance to West Bank Park.

They added: “Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance, but sadly was later pronounced dead.

“His family have been informed.

“It is believed that no other vehicles were involved, and this was a tragic medical episode.”

Floral tributes and a cap have been placed at the scene.

As reported by The Press online, the road was closed by police for a number of hours before re-opening last night.
