Man dies and two left seriously injured after BMW crashes into ditch

The driver and other passenger in the car were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A man died after a crash near a Cambridgeshire town. The police were called to the A605 Wisbech Road near Whittlesey after a BMW X5 left the road and crashed into a ditch at around 8.45am on Saturday, December 13.

A 21-year-old man from March, who was a back seat passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 53-year-old man, and a 50-year-old woman, also both from March, were taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident. Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The police are now asking for anyone who saw the BMW or has dashcam footage of the incident to report it. You can report it through the Cambridgeshire Police website using the reference Operation Canary. Anyone without internet access should call 101.

Sergeant Mark Atkins, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “I would urge anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of the BMW before the collision to get in touch.”
