Man dies following house fire in Ballymena

The emergency services were called to the tragic incident this morning

A man has died following a house fire in Ballymena this morning.

The emergency services were called to the fire at a house in the Waring Street area of the Co Antrim town just before 9.45am on Friday, December 26.

Firefighters dealt with the fire, but sadly a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said that while investigations into the incident continue, the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police can confirm that a man, aged in his 40s, has died following a fire at a house in the Waring Street area of Ballymena, on Friday 26th December.

“Police received a report of the fire shortly before 9.45am on Friday morning, and attended alongside colleagues from other emergency services but, sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. “Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire are ongoing, however, at this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
