A chilling emergency call caught the moment a man trapped inside a metal charity bin said he ‘can’t breathe’ before he tragically died in the horror incident in Texas
A man tragically died inside a charity donation box after he struggled to breathe.
The 45-year-old put a desperate call into the police as he desperately pleaded for help, after becoming trapped inside a huge clothes donation bin earlier this week. The man, who has not been publicly identified, rang the cops at 1.36am on Monday and told the operator that he couldn’t get enough air while stuck inside. One the chilling phone call, he was reportedly heard saying: “I can’t breathe, I’m having problems breathing”.
Despite immediate rescue efforts by emergency crews, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believe the man was attempting to retrieve clothes from inside the box, which was fitted with an anti-theft mechanism, when he became wedged.
Mark Herman, a Harris County, Texas, constable said in a statement: “First responders located the individual and immediately began rescue efforts. Fire crews worked to safely gain access and remove the subject; however, the male was later confirmed deceased on scene.
“Please avoid the area and allow emergency crews room to operate. Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy.”
Arms of Hope, the charity who run for the donation box, issued a statement after the death. A spokesperson said: “We are aware of the tragic incident involving a deceased individual discovered in a donation collection box.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the individual and their loved ones during this difficult time. Because this is an active investigation, we are not able to share further details at this time.” Authorities said they are investigating the tragedy.
It comes after a struggling mum died after she became trapped in a charity clothes box, when she started looking through donations. Alarrah Lawrence’s body was horrifically found hanging “half in, half out” of a clothing bank in Australia, in July 2021.
Police say CCTV footage shows the mum-of-one driving into a shopping centre, before she parked up and approached the bin at around 1.40am. The 33-year-old stood on a plastic bucket to look into the Good Sammys charity box before she started to go through the donated items.
It is believed the mum slipped off the bucket, which would have left her top half stuck and her feet dangling. By the time a member of the public noticed her body, the new mum had sadly already died.
The mum’s heartbroken boyfriend in a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, said: “This is a cruel world. Can’t believe you’re gone. I’m devastated and words can’t explain. I’m going to miss you and I just wish I could tell you I love you one more time my soulmate.”
