Officers had to perform CPR on the man before he was taken to hospital
A man is in a critical condition after being found with serious head and facial injuries in Omagh town centre.
Police say they were on patrol on Main Street in the Co Tyrone town when they found a severely injured man aged in his 30s at around 1am on Sunday. While speaking to the man his condition quickly deteriorated and officers had to carry out CPR on him before he was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A 18-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences and remains in police custody at this time.

Police have said they believe the alleged attack on the man took place in the “gated Main Street area” and has asked anyone with any information to contact them.
Detective Sergeant Johnston said: “Police officers on patrol in the Main Street area of the town came across a man with a number of facial and head injuries at around 1am. “While he was being spoken to, his condition rapidly deteriorated. Officers carried out CPR on the man, aged in his 30s, before taking him to hospital where, at this time, he is in a critical but stable condition. An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, and remains in custody.”
Detective Sergeant Johnston continued: “We believe the assault may have occurred in the gated Main Street area, and would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or who may have CCTV/dash-cam or other video footage which could assist with police enquiries, to contact officers on 101.
