Man in hospital after suffering serious injuries in Newcastle

Shortly after 5.15am on Sunday police received a report of concern for the welfare of a man in the Marlborough Crescent area of Newcastle.

Emergency services attended – where it was found the man had sustained serious injuries to his head and arm.

The man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a stable condition.

An investigation has since been launched by Northumbria Police as they try to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers are appealing for potential witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses after a suspected assault in Newcastle has left a man with serious injuries.

“There was a lot of activity in the area at the time – including multiple vehicles passing, as well as taxis queued nearby.  

 “Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed or captured the moments surrounding the incident, especially those who may have dashcam footage.

“Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with Northumbria Police by sending a direct message on social media, or by using the live chat or ‘report’ form function on the Force’s website.”
