Man stabbed and substance thrown in Ferryhill attack
Police, paramedics, and two air ambulances were called to Parker Terrace on Wednesday (December 17) following an assault just after 10.30am.
A 49-year-old man suffered injuries to his eyes when an unknown substance was thrown in his face, while the 44-year-old man he was with suffered stab injuries.
The men were taken to hospital for treatment where they remain.
An investigation is now underway.

A Durham Police spokesperson said: “Officers are confident it was a targeted, isolated attack between individuals who are all known to each other and do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.
“Officers would like to thank the community for their support and patience while the road was closed as initial enquiries took place. It has has since reopened.”
The road was taped off following the incident this morning, with pictures showing white-suited investigators probing a taxi parked within the cordon. There was also damage to the taxi, with glass on the road and pavement.
Crime scene investigators were pictured working at the scene throughout the day and collecting evidence in bags.
Resident Leon Burns told the Echo: “I was just jogging from Kirk Merrington to Ferryhill to get to the college using the bus when I first saw an air ambulance go over me when I was near Ferryhill School.

“As I was arriving into Dean Bank near Ferryhill, the second air ambulance arrived on the green in Dean Bank and then when I passed into the town centre I saw the police, fire and ambulances already at the scene.”
Another person at the scene said: “The emergency services have been here since about 11am. There were ambulances and fire engines too, and I know CSI are here. It’s unusual to see so many emergency services around this area.”
The fire service, ambulance and air ambulance also attended the incident.
A spokesperson for Great North Air Ambulance said: “Our team were activated at 10.45am to reports of an assault in Ferryhill. We sent two air ambulances to the scene, one from Cumbria and one from the North East.
“The first aircraft arrived on the scene at 11.10am and then the North East helicopter arrived at 11.18am.

“Our team assessed and treated two patients and both have been transported to hospital by road.”
A North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) spokesperson added: “We were called to an incident at a premises, in Ferryhill, at 10:35 on Wednesday 17 December.
“We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader, and were supported by our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).”
