Manchester United have reportedly listed one former Premier League boss as a candidate to get the job at Old Trafford in the summer
Manchester United have reportedly identified former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi as a potential candidate to take charge of the club in the summer.
United have been looking for a replacement for Ruben Amorim since the 40-year-old’s departure last week and several candidates have been linked with the job.
Michael Carrick is on the verge of being appointed by United on an interim basis until the end of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also been linked with the job, but Carrick is expected to be named as United’s next boss until the end of the campaign, with an agreement already reached.
United could then look to appoint a permanent boss in the summer and have already been linked with several potential options, with De Zerbi’s name the latest to be mentioned.

A report in the Daily Mail has claimed that De Zerbi fits the criteria by United’s hierarchy of a manager who has Premier League experience, with the Italian spending almost two years at Brighton until his exit in 2024.
De Zerbi is currently the manager of Marseille, meaning United would likely need to negotiate with the Ligue 1 side over a potential fee to allow them to bring the 46-year-old to Old Trafford should they wish to do so.
It remains to be seen what United will have planned for the manager’s position when the summer arrives, with plenty of Premier League matches still to play before the end of the season.
United’s next match will see them face Manchester City on Saturday afternoon in the Manchester derby in the top flight, where Carrick will be expected to be in the dugout.
The Reds are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table and are three points adrift of Liverpool, who are fourth and one behind fifth-placed Brentford, which could still go on to be enough to secure a Champions League spot for next season.
