Man’s death treated as ‘suspicious’ with woman arrested

Police say that the woman arrested and the man who died are believed to be known to each other

The death of a man in Haverhill is being treated as suspicious by police. Police were called with reports that a man had suffered serious injuries at an address in Lordscroft Lane at 7.53pm on Tuesday (December 2).

The ambulance service attended and a man aged in his 50s was initially treated for serious injuries. He died a short time later.

The man’s death is currently unexplained. Enquiries are at an early stage but Suffolk Police said it is being treated as suspicious. A Home Office post-mortem examination is expected to take place in due course.

A 61-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. She was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where she remains.

At this early stage of the investigation, it is believed that the woman arrested and the deceased are known to each other. Police say they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

A police scene is in place at the premises on Lordscroft Lane while enquiries continue. Officers are appealing for anybody with information to contact police quoting reference 37/68293/25 online or by calling 101.
