Marjorie Taylor Greene RESIGNS from Congress as former Trump ally brands President ‘hateful’ in shock statement

Marjorie Taylor Greene has resigned from Congress after a tumultuous public break with President Donald Trump.
The one-time MAGA ally’s relationship with Trump has deteriorated in recent months as she campaigned for the justice department to release all of its Jeffrey Epstein files.
In a lengthy statement, the Georgia Republican rebuked her long-time ally, labelling Trump “hateful”.
Greene announced that she will leave Congress on January 5, 2026.
“I look forward to a new path ahead,” she said in a social media post.
Explaining her decision, she said she has “always been despised in Washington, DC, and just never fit in.”
She released a video statement listing her accomplishments, which included a sharp critique of the President – a man who recently threatened to back a primary opponent against her in the upcoming election.
“I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms,” she said.
The hard-right Republican was one of the most aggressive spokespeople for the Make America Great Again movement.
Despite announcing her departure from the House of Representatives, US media reports suggest Greene is eyeing a run for state office.
During their public feud, the President commented directly on these ambitions.
He wrote on Truth Social that he had previously advised her against seeking either position due to unfavorable public polling.
Trump has been fiercely critical about Greene on Truth Social, once describing her as a “lunatic”.
Her resignation comes just one week after a public social media spat with Trump.
The feud between Greene and Trump intensified on Friday as the two traded social media barbs.
The confrontation began earlier that evening when Trump initiated the spat on Truth Social, even admitting he had advised her against running for the Senate in 2026.
Greene quickly retaliated by sharing screenshots of text messages she had sent to Trump regarding the Epstein files.
In one message, she advised him to “lean in” to former President Bill Clinton’s association with the pedophile, stating: “Epstein was the spider that wove the web of the deep state. Lean into it.”
Following her advice, Trump ordered an investigation into Clinton on Friday.
In another shared screenshot, Greene was responding to a text from “NH,” an apparent reference to the President’s assistant Natalie Harp, who seemed upset about Greene’s critiques.
Harp’s text simply read: “THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN HOAX.”
Greene’s detailed reply defended her loyalty to Trump while correcting Harp: “In every single interview I have done I have defended President Trump.”
“I’ve said over and over the women say he did nothing wrong and their attorney says he’s the only one who helped.”
“And the Democrats had 4 years to release the files but did nothing.”
“Stop ignoring the women. Many of them literally voted for President Trump and say so publicly. Them being raped as teenagers is not a hoax.”
Trump retaliated against Greene in a series of social media posts, labeling her a “traitor” and “wacky.”
He went on to declare that she should be unseated and vowed to support a challenger for her Congressional seat.
Despite their feud, the measure compelling the Justice Department to release the Epstein files passed Congress on Tuesday and was signed into law by Trump on Wednesday.
