Marlon grabs a knife in Emmerdale as Paddy is left reeling by tragedy | Soaps
At this point in time, we’ve seen that Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) gets murdered and ends up in Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) van in Emmerdale, but what happened to him, and how did he get there?
Well, my friends, you are about to find out in some epic flashback episodes. With a whole gaggle of possible killers, it’s almost impossible to guess exactly who killed Ray, but let’s give it a good go, shall we?
Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), Ross Barton (Mike Parr), Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy), Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), and even once-dead Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) are all in the running as possible suspects, but there is one who stands out as the most likely, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).
Marlon has been pushed to his limit by a man who has terrorised his family; forcing April into dealing drugs, attempting to force her into prostitution, making evil threats against his family if they didn’t give him weekly bundles of cash. Even the meek-mannered chef has his boiling point.
Giving a little insight into Marlon’s state of mind, actor Mark Charnock said, ‘He’s had this blindfold put on him and all that’s left of this tiny slit in this, and all he can see is ending Ray. He can’t see any other option, but killing him.’
At the point in time of this flashback episode, April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) is missing and Marlon is desperate. Viewers know that Ray took April to the woods to kill her but instead let her go, but Marlon does not know this.
On the day that Ray is found dead, Ray has just murdered his mum and is seen standing over her dead body. After a moment he shakes off what he’s done and goes into practical mode – wiping fingerprints from the weapon and grabbing his red bag ready to leave. He stops by to look in on Bear’s (Joshua Richards) body, but can’t bear to look at him, before moving on.
He later bumps into Paddy and cruelly feeds him the truth of his dad’s fate – from the slavery to his brutal death. Paddy is distraught.
Meanwhile, Marlon snaps and arms himself with a knife and prepares to seek revenge on Ray. But with Paddy know gifted a motive to want the bad man dead too, who will get there first?
Flash forward to Ray’s body being found in the back of Jai’s van. Whose door will the police be knocking on, Marlon’s, or Paddy’s?
