Met Office yellow weather warning for icy surfaces
York and North Yorkshire are currently under a yellow warning for rain and will remain so until midnight, though the Met Office has downgraded it from the warning of heavy rain that was originally forecast.
Now it has added a yellow weather warning for icy surfaces starting at 10pm and running until 9am tomorrow morning.
The ice warning states: “Following rainfall earlier in the evening, surface temperatures are expected to fall widely below freezing. With surfaces left wet, ice is expected to form on untreated surfaces and may lead to hazardous travelling conditions.”
The ice warning covers western North Yorkshire.
