Millie Wright, of Poppleton, York, died in August 2021, aged just 13. She had been suffering from an underlying auto-immune health condition, and fell ill in March of that year.
She was forced to undergo an urgent liver transplant at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) in April.

Millie, a pupil at All Saint’s School in the city, was able to return home briefly in June, before before requiring a stem cell transplant for aplastic aneamia, a complication of acute hepatitis and acute liver failure – in which the bone marrow stops making enough blood cells.
Her family set up the Millie Wright Children’s Charity in her memory and the charity has spent Christmas bringing hope to families at Leeds Children’s Hospital.
Her mum, and charity co-founder, Ceri Wright said: “While most families gather around the table at home this Christmas, many parents of seriously ill children will spend the festive season in hospital wards at Leeds Children’s Hospital, facing uncertainty and heartache.
“The Millie Wright Children’s Charity is determined to bring a little light into that darkness by funding a special Christmas dinner for these families – a moment of comfort and togetherness when they need it most.
“For families with a seriously ill child, Christmas can feel like just another day of worry,” said Ceri Wright ( Co-founder) for the charity.
“We want to remind them that they are not alone – that there is a community standing beside them, ready to share hope and kindness in memory of our daughter Millie who passed away at LCH in 2021 aged 13.”
The charity has been feeding parents at Leeds Children’s Hospital since 2022 and every Saturday they have providing a Saturday Supper and stocked parent kitchens with food.
“Every plate served is more than food – it’s a message of love and solidarity. It’s a chance for parents, siblings, and carers to share a smile, a story, and a moment of peace during the hardest of times,” said Ceri.
The charity relies on the generosity of donors to make this possible. If you would like to help bring joy to these families, please visit www.millieschildrenscharity.org
