Milner York reports record 2025 and 'hugely successful' Xmas

The Milner York says this is building on from the momentum it gained after it rebranded from the Principal in October 2024.

General manager Andy Barnsdale said: “We had a hugely successful Christmas and New Year, rounding off what was a record-breaking year for the hotel. The festive season really reflected the momentum we’ve built throughout 2025.

Andy also credits the ‘strength of the Milner brand’ and the professional but warm service of his staff.

He continued: “We also went bigger than ever on festive décor, with more Christmas trees throughout the hotel than ever had before, alongside beautifully styled seasonal touches. Our main Christmas tree became a real talking point… we like to think it now rivals our iconic staircase as one of the most photographed spots in York!”

On Christmas Day, the hotel served 166 guests for lunch, in line with last year. This included residential guests dining in Peachey’s Bar & Grill, non-residents enjoying lunch in The Oak Room, and a private family celebration in The Ebor.

The hotel offered a Christmas residential package, with enhanced food and drink.

Andy told the Press: “Our Christmas residential package continues to be a favourite for both returning guests and those discovering York for the first time, while Peachey’s Bar and Grill and our private dining spaces remain a popular choice for locals, this is something we’re especially proud of.”

Throughout December Festive Afternoon Teas in the Garden Room were also “more popular than ever, particularly with larger family groups.”

Andy continued: “December 2025 was a record month, surpassing even our strong December in 2024. We welcomed a real mix of guests, party celebrations, family gatherings, and visitors coming to York for the Christmas markets and festive events across the city.

He added: “The outlook for 2026 is very positive. The Milner brand is now well recognised, and we’ll continue to build on that.

“All key segments are starting the year strongly, including weddings, meetings and events, and leisure stays. Evolving our packages and adding thoughtful touches, what we like to call “The Milner tweaks” has been very well received and will remain central to our plans.”

“We’ll continue to introduce seasonal promotions, from Fizz Fridays in the Garden Room to our Twilight Valentine’s Afternoon Tea with live music.

“These experiences are designed to give both locals and visitors new reasons to come through our doors not just stay overnight.”

“As we look ahead to 2026, our message is simple: don’t just walk or drive past, come in, experience The Milner and this wonderful city.”
