Moment furious St Mirren fans at Rangers clash confront fellow supporter who disrupted Ibrox disaster minute’s silence
THE crowd at Rangers’ match descended into boos before kick-off this evening, as one away fan disturbed a minute of silence.
The players, officials, staff and fans went quiet to remember those who lost their lives in the Ibrox disaster in 1971.

Tonight’s match against St Mirren is the closest home game to the anniversary of the terrible day – January 2 – when 66 supporters lost their lives in a stairway crush.
Almost 55 years on the minute’s silence was nearly impeccably observed, up until a lone Buddies supporter’s scream began to fill the air.
As the 60 seconds were coming to an end a shout of “COME ON THE SAINTS” rang around the silent stadium, picked up clearly on the BBC‘s live radio commentary feed.
The man was immediately shouted down by another attendee and smatterings of booing broke out.
Seconds later the ref’s whistle blew to signify the end of the minute, and while many applauded there also came a sea of boos against the act.
SunSport understands a fan from the area of the ground was ejected by stewards.
It’s believed fellow surrounding Saints fans helped single out the offending individual.
Players on the pitch, hushed in respect, also looked to be disgusted at the incident, as one fan wrote online: “Even the Saints players were shaking their heads at that one.”
A second posted: “If that was a St Mirren fan that shouted near the end of it they are out of order giving our club a bad name!”
A third called the perpetrator a ‘vile rat’ while some praised the nearby fans for pointing out the ‘idiot’.
The Gers squad are in black armbands today, with further memorial ceremonies planned on the anniversary.
Earlier this year, a Celtic fan was sacked from his job after being caught mocking the disaster.
He pleaded guilty to conducting himself in a disorderly manner during a 1-1 Old Firm draw in May.
The man was fined over £500 and banned from attending football matches for 14 months.
Just days after that incident, it appeared a Dundee United fan made similar taunts during a clash with Rangers.
More have also been blasted for disrupting silences for the disaster in years gone by.
