More4 to air Our Yorkshire pub rescue with Jon Richardson
Our Yorkshire Pub Rescue with Jon Richardson, a new four-part observational series is set to air on More4 at 9pm on Wednesday, February 4.
The show follows efforts to restore the once-derelict pub – The Plough in Fadmoor, North Yorkshire – and will be broadcast on consecutive Wednesdays throughout February.
Peter Jones, chairman of Fadmoor Community Pub Limited, said: “As you will see, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to renovate this derelict pub and to breathe fresh life back into the building.
“As we work on the building, we keep uncovering issues and so it is going to take a lot of time and money to return it to its natural place as the heart of this fabulous rural community.
“If you are inspired to come and help us with the renovation or would like to support us with a donation or to invest by purchasing shares, please get in touch.
“Literally every penny counts and will make the difference to when we can open the pub doors.”
The Plough was purchased in September 2024 through funding from the Government’s Community Ownership Fund, alongside investment from the local community, and had been closed for 14 years prior to the purchase.
Despite progress, it still requires significant work and further investment before it can reopen.
The programme will highlight the efforts of The Plough’s committee, volunteers, and the wider Fadmoor community as they work to bring the pub back into use with support from comedian Jon Richardson.
The first episode sees Jon Richardson meeting committee members and volunteers, helping to demolish the toilet block, and gathering supplies for the workers.
He also fetches beer for an Investor and Supporter meeting, where he meets the broader community.
Later episodes will follow the evolving restoration project and Mr Richardson’s interactions with committee members and villagers driving the project forward – all set against the backdrop of the North Yorkshire countryside.
Filming for a second series is expected to begin soon.
