Motherwell and Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson has welcomed First Minister and SNP leader John Swinney setting out the party’s priorities for the upcoming Holyrood election on the 7th May.

In a speech on Monday, Mr Swinney highlighted improving performance in the NHS and schools, record business investment and falling child poverty, saying that Scotland is moving forward despite economic pressures driven by the Labour’s decisions at Westminster.

With the Commonwealth Games returning to Glasgow, Scotland back on the world stage at the FIFA men’s World Cup, and the First Minister’s proposal of a bank holiday following Scotland’s first game, 2026 will be a year of hope and opportunity for Motherwell and Wishaw and for Scotland.

Ms Adamson said: “People across Motherwell and Wishaw can see the progress being made under SNP leadership – in our public services, our economy and in supporting families through tough times.

“This election is about hope, choosing a future where decisions are made in Scotland, our energy wealth works for our people, and we build a country that is fairer, greener, and more prosperous.

“Scotland could be in the early days of a better nation; we just need to vote for it.
