Mountain climber ‘swung ice axe’ at dog walker after ‘pouring water on her pet’

Police say the victim was involved in an altercation with the man who then hit her over the head with a bag of plastic tubs on Ben Ledi on Saturday January 3.

Cops are hunting a mountain climber who swung an ice axe at a dog walker after pouring water over her pet. The bizarre incident took place around 9.30am on Saturday, January 3 around halfway up the hill path of Ben Ledi.

The woman was walking her dog with a friend when she was accosted by a man who poured water over her the animal and made threatening remarks. Cops say he then brandished an ice axe and swung it in her direction.

The man then hit the victim over the head with a bag of plastic tubs. Police are appealing for information on the individual in question.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 10ins, aged in his 50s, of medium build with brown hair under a black hat, wearing black hiking gear with a green bag.

Ben Ledi is the highest mountain in the main part of the Trossachs and is a very popular hill walk with dogwalkers and seasoned trekkers alike due to it being a familiar and attractive landmark in Callander.
