Sick Amanda Mae Maison has pleaded guilty to killing little Matthew, seven years after his death.
An evil mother has admitted killing her three-year-old son during a shocking campaign of horrific abuse that included slamming his head against a wall and forcing him to endure “military time outs”.
Sick Amanda Mae Maison has pleaded guilty to killing little Matthew Maison, seven years after his death.
A court has heard how Maison and her then boyfriend, Maurice Houle, tortured Matthew to death “to make more room” inside her home for their own child.
She locked Matthew in rooms for hours, slammed his head against the wall and encouraged her Houle to allegedly abuse her child.
Matthew was found dead in the bed of his home in Port Huron Township, Michegan, by his babysitters.
Maison and Houle were arrested in connection with the killing.
The Mirror reports that an autopsy showed Matthew died from blunt force trauma injuries and possible suffocation.
Maison reached a deal with prosecutors which, in addition to pleading guilty, requires her to provide “truthful testimony” against Houle, in his upcoming trial on the charge of first-degree murder.
Maison, 33, admitted that she had abused Matthew when she entered her plea on November 5.
Maison has admitted that on one occasion she pushed her son’s “head into a wall in their home” during a “military time-out”, the County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Maison admitted that she had enabled Houle’s alleged abuse of her child, and “willingly participated” in hiding it from child protective services and police. She also admitted to “actively contriving a plan to conceal the manner of Matthew’s death from law enforcement,” police said.
In a statement, officials said: “Amanda admitted that she willfully and wantonly allowed an environment to exist, where Matthew would be systemically abused, and that those abuses eventually resulted in Matthew’s death. Amanda stated that she participated with Maurice Houle in actively contriving a plan to conceal the manner of Matthew’s death from law enforcement.”
When Maison and Houle were brought in, authorities learned of their plot to lie about how Matthew had sustained some of his previous injuries, St Clair County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joshua Sparling said.
The lawyer claimed Matthew would be hit across his face by Houle, locked in his room without food or water for hours, and that there was an incident where Houle placed a pillow over the young boy’s face “and pretended like he was playing”.
Mr Sparling said: “This case is an extremely serious case.
“We have a young child who was the victim here. This young child, Matthew, suffered years of abuse at the hands of both defendants.”
It is said that Maison also admitted that she avoided taking Matthew to doctor’s appointments because she didn’t want them to see his injuries. The couple were both charged with first-degree murder in April. They both pleaded not guilty. Maison pleaded guilty to second-degree homicide on November 5. As part of her plea, she has agreed to testify in the trial of Houle, scheduled for early 2026.
