Murton man appears in court on charges linked to 'disturbance'

On Friday (December 19), Alex Robinson, 24, was arrested after a police helicopter and officers from Durham police located him at an address in Murton.

He was later charged with affray, ABH, GBH, criminal damage, possession of a bladed article in a public place and an assault on an emergency services worker.

The 24-year-old was bailed to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday (December 22).

A spokesperson for Durham police said: “A man has been charged and appeared in court following a disturbance.

“Officers supported by NPAS (National Police Air Service) carried out a search for a wanted man on Friday (December 19), who was located at an address in Murton and detained by officers.

“A 24-year-old man was arrested and later charged with affray, ABH, GBH, criminal damage, possession of a bladed article in a public place and an assault on an emergency services worker.”

A spokesperson for NPAS added: “On Friday, December 19, 2025, a police helicopter crew from NPAS Newcastle was deployed to the area of Murton, County Durham, in support of Durham police.

“The aircraft supported ground units in search of a suspect.”

In court, Robinson, of Station Road North, Murton, appeared to confirm his name and address.

No pleas were entered, and he was remanded in custody to appear in Durham Crown Court on January 23, 2026.
