NCIS Origins season two continues to delve into Leroy Gibbs’ early career as a special agent.
NCIS Origins is back with the star who is set to play Agent Dwayne Pride now confirmed.
NCIS Origins series two is currently airing on both CBS and Paramount+, following the early days of Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (portrayed by Austin Stowell) at the newly established NCIS Camp Pendleton office.
Working alongside NCIS icon Gibbs in this 1990s prequel is his superior Agent Mike Franks, brought to life by Muse Watson, though in the original series the role was performed by actor Kyle Schmid.
It has now emerged that another figure from the NCIS world is set to arrive in the form of NCIS New Orleans’ Agent Dwayne Pride.
Even more thrilling is the news that actor Scott Bakula’s character will now be portrayed by actor Shea Buckner, who recently appeared as Tony Caccimelio in series five of Only Murders in the Building.
The 38-year-old performer’s previous credits include Power Book II: Ghost, The Rookie, The Blacklist, Shameless and The Equalizer.
Back in 2018, Buckner actually featured in the original NCIS programme as a character named Xavier Blackburn, who had been detained for murder and aiding the Taliban.
Buckner is set to feature in a forthcoming episode of NCIS Origins series two, as a recently appointed Probationary Special Agent from the NIS Panama office.
The ex-sheriff’s deputy shares a backstory with Gibbs and the pair “must resolve their past tension as they go undercover on a case”, reports Deadline.
The forthcoming instalment will also bring back together the Fed Five task force, a legendary team of agents who famously caught the Privileged Killer in the original programme.
The squad features Gibbs, Franks, Pride, Dan McLane and Felix Betts ( Stuart Margolin ), with Stowell and Kyle Schmid portraying Gibbs and Franks in NCIS Origins.
So far, there’s been no word on who will take on the roles of McLane and Betts.
Agent Pride isn’t the only beloved character making a comeback to the franchise this series, with actor Adam Campbell returning as the younger David “Ducky” Mallard.
He originally portrayed the charming bow tie-wearing Ducky in a 2014 NCIS episode before featuring in the series two Origins instalment The Edge.
NCIS Origins series two airs every Wednesday on Paramount+.
