Just when you thought Corriedale had dished out all its drama. The biggest bombshell to explode from the epic soap crossover just might be a woman tied up in the back of a van – the mysterious Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown).

Of all the ways a new character could enter Coronation Street, escaping from the clutches of legendary Emmerdale supervillain Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) is probably up there with ‘riding into the Rover’s Return on a unicorn.’

Once fans have finished wondering why the famously deceased baddie has returned from the grave just to capture women in the back of a white transit, the question on everybody’s lips will be who is Jodie – and why is she here?

The answer may come sooner that you think, as eagle-eyed Corriedale viewers may have spotted that this enigmatic newcomer has a tattoo that is identical to Shona Platt’s (Julia Goulding). The plot thickens…

As fate would have it, Shona and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) were also caught up in that deadly car crash on the fateful night in the Yorkshire Dales.

It’s been a rocky year for the couple’s relationship after they discovered that their unborn baby had a cancerous tumour which couldn’t be removed without Shona undergoing life-threatening surgery. Despite their challenges, the tumultuous Cobbles couple endured this heartache together and came out the other end smiling thanks to their family and friends.

But on the way back from Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) wedding, they were involved in the devastating pile up when their minibus crashed. They were rushed into hospital where Shona went into labour… and where she’s sure to cross paths with the woman who shares her matching tattoo.

Upcoming episodes will see Jodie begin to circle the Platts as they nervously prepare for the complex surgery that could save their daughter’s life. After stealing a teddy, Jodie heads to Shona’s room. She also bumps into David in the corridor and asks how his baby is doing. What is her game?

But all will be revealed back on the Cobbles when Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) tells Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) about the strange girl he met after the crash, how she had her wrists bound and was clearly terrified. Meanwhile, David and Shona scroll through photos of their new baby, suddenly the door opens. Heeeeere’s Jodie!

We at the Metro love fan conspiracy theories far too much to quash them with big juicy spoilers. So without giving too much away, I’ll just say that Jodie reveals herself as a face from Shona’s past who was involved in the car crash.

To say David and Shona are taken aback is something of an understatement. And later, when David finds Jodie in the hospital car park suffering a panic attack, he lets her stay under their roof. Jodie’s delighted.

It doesn’t take Jodie long to get her feet under the table in the Old Platt Homestead, as she gets on with Bethany Platt (Mia Cookson) and Lily (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner), like a house on fire.

But it’s clear from the off that she’s going to have a much harder time winning over Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), who calls round while David is at the hospital and is startled to find this random woman at number Eight.

So when David and Shona finally arrive home, it’s to find Nick and Jodie with daggers drawn. It didn’t take her long to make enemies!

What does Jodie want from Shona, and will Nick be the one to discover the truth?
