“This show is about joy, chemistry and connection”
Local theatre company Kaleidoscope is holding open auditions for its new 80s inspired musical take on Jane Austen’s classic romance Pride and Prejudice.
‘Pride and Prejudice and 80’s Hits!’ is a “bold and joyful new musical” where Jane Austen’s iconic love story gets a musical makeover, powered by the biggest anthems of the 1980’s.
A spokesperson said: “Audiences will fall head over heels for this glittering musical mash-up featuring Austen’s sharp wit, swooning romance and unforgettable 80s chart-toppers.

“Expect passion, prejudice and pure pop perfection — where manners matter, hearts race and love finds a way.”
Kaleidoscope is giving local performers the opportunity to be a part of this show – the company is looking for a strong cast of singers, actors and dancers, with particular interest in performers for the iconic roles of Elizabeth Bennet (Lizzy) and Mr Darcy — though all roles are open and performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition.
Auditions will take place in late January and previous experience is welcome but not essential — Kaleidoscope is keen to hear from anyone with passion, personality and a love of storytelling through music.
Director, Kerry Rooney MBE, said: “This show is about joy, chemistry and connection — on stage and with the audience.
“If you’ve ever wanted to be a romantic lead, a comic scene-stealer, or part of a high-energy ensemble set to 80s pop classics, this is your moment.”
Pride and Prejudice… and Hits from the 80s! will be performed at the Waterfront Hall in May 2026, bringing together Austen’s unforgettable characters and the sound of a generation for a theatrical experience that’s witty, romantic and irresistibly fun.
