One dead and another critically injured after car hits tree

A passenger suffered serious injuries in the horror crash.

The crash is thought to have occurred after the car, a black Volkswagen Golf, had been travelling along Church Road towards Urmston.

Greater Manchester Police said that the car ‘lost directional control’, colliding with a tree off the carriageway at 1:15am this morning (November 23).

The driver, a 26-year-old man, suffered unsurvivable, significant injuries.

A passenger, a 22-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition in hospital.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are asking for anyone with information to please come forward.

This includes anyone who saw the vehicle driving before the collision, witnessed the incident itself, or have dashcam footage of the incident.
