One person taken to hospital after ‘serious’ crash on A19
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they were called to the crash on the northbound carriageway between Seaham and junction A690 near Herrington at 11.03pm last night (November 24).
The service said they took one person to the RVI in Newcastle for further treatment.
A spokesperson said: “We were called to a road traffic incident on the A19 northbound between Seaham and junction A690 at 11.03pm last night (November 24).
“We dispatched two ambulance crews, one specialist paramedic, one clinical team leader, one duty officer, one HART crew (Hazardous Area Response Team) and supported by a doctor at Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
“One patient was taken to RVI hospital for further treatment.”
The road was closed overnight and the Northbound carriageway remains shut as of 8.40am on Tuesday, November 25. The southbound carriageway was reopened at around 8am.
According the AA, there are rush-hour delays of ten minutes.
