One taken to hospital after car crashes with truck closing A19

Emergency services closed the road heading northbound between Portrack and the Billingham and Norton A139 turn off shortly before 1pm on Monday (December 15).

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has confirmed one person was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.47pm on Monday, December 15 to reports of a road traffic incident on the A19 near Norton in Stockton.

“We dispatched an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader to the scene, and transported one patient to North Tees hospital for further treatment.”

Firefighters from Cleveland Fire Brigade also attended the scene.

A spokesperson said: “Cleveland Fire Brigade were called on December 15 at 12.46pm to an incident on the A19 Northbound before the Norton turn off.

“Three fire appliances in attendance from Coulby Newham and Stockton.

“The stop call was received at 1.47pm.”

The road was reopened at 3.20pm.
