Park View school Chester-le-Street plan for artificial pitch
Park View Academy has submitted proposals to improve the current grass pitch at its Church Chare, Chester-le-Street site.
The current pitch has limited usability due to lighting and drainage issues, impacting both school and community use.
New plans, submitted by agent Lichfields, include the installation of an artificial grass pitch, perimeter and acoustic fencing, LED lighting columns, and a car park.
The development will also include 43 car parking spaces, two of which are reserved for disabled users, and 48 cycle spaces.

It comes 19 months after a previous proposal was refused; on appeal, only the parking concern was upheld. The new proposal includes additional parking to address these concerns.
The artificial pitch is expected to be open from 9am to 9.30pm on weekdays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays, and 9am to 5pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
Plans are currently awaiting approval from Durham County Council, with a decision expected in the coming weeks.
