A person has died after being struck by a train between Cambridgeshire and London. The casualty was struck near Stevenage, Hertfordshire, before 1.20pm on Wednesday (December 3). They died at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said officers were called to Stevenage at 1.20pm to reports of a casualty on the tracks. They added: “Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Train services between Cambridgeshire and London were cancelled or disrupted as a result of the incident, with lines expected to be impacted until 7pm on Wednesday.
