Phil Foden leapfrogs rivals with 39-point mega haul to become Dream Team's top midfielder

GAMEWEEK 13 is not done yet with another seven fixtures still to go but it’s hard to envisage anyone knocking Phil Foden (£5m) off his perch.

Manchester City’s homegrown talent is by far and away the best performer so far having amassed a mega haul of 39 points!

Foden was the star of the show on Saturday when Pep Guardiola’s side beat Leeds 3-2 at the Etihad.

The 25-year-old bookended the dramatic game with a goal in the first minute followed by a decisive winner in stoppage time for an 18-point return.

Not content with that, he was City’s main man again at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.

Foden scored either side of half time to make it four goals in as many days.

The visitors weathered a storm to hold on for a 5-4 win in West London with their No47 earning three bonus points on top of his brace for a 21-point haul at the end of a crazy contest.

Most Dream Team managers with Foden in their ranks have surged up the leaderboard this Gameweek.

Predictably, he is currently the most popular recruit ahead of Gameweek 14 but his ownership of 17.9% suddenly appears a tad low.

At the time of writing, over 82% of Dream Team bosses are going without the game’s top midfielder.

The likes of Bukayo Saka (£6.7m), Dominik Szoboszlai (£5m) and Enzo Fernandez (£4.7m) will be action this evening but somebody will have to do something special to shift Foden off the throne after he moved to a grand total of 135 points.

The England international now has eight goals to his name in all competitions, a tally only bettered by runaway leader Erling Haaland (£7.7m) and surprise package Igor Thiago (£4.2m).

Many gaffers will welcome the return of an in-form Foden after what was a fallow season in 2024/25.

He scored 10 goals and registered six assists last term, by no means shabby but under par by his high standards.

The six-time Premier League winner was crowned PFA Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year in 2023/24 after bagging 26 goals in all comps, a sustained effort that translated to a mountain of Dream Team points.

While he hasn’t rediscovered those heights, the fact he’s averaging a goal involvement every 127.2 minutes this season means he is very much back in the spotlight.

He also seems to be more immune to Guardiola’s rotation policy than most having played 85+ minutes in six of City’s last seven games.

Foden will not be short of point-scoring opportunities this festive period with nine fixtures scheduled across the next five Gamweeks.
