Pictures of heavy snowfall in Middleton-in-Teesdale
Middleton-in-Teesdale has been hit by heavy snow, as Storm Chandra brings chaos and disruption to the region.
Gritters and ploughs have been pictured clearing snow from main roads, while police officers have also been seen helping and directing traffic.

Parts of County Durham were expected to get snowfall today, as a yellow weather warning for rain and snow was issued yesterday.
The Met Office has also issued another yellow weather warning for County Durham for tomorrow, this time for ice.
Elsewhere in the region, the A66 from the Brough Snowgates has been closed due to forecast snowfall, as Britain’s highest pub, Tan Hill Inn is closed due to heavy snow.

Storm Chandra has also brought strong winds to the region. A tree had fallen earlier today on Hall Lane in Houghton, blocking the entire road.
Seaham Marina has also been closed due to “unsafe weather conditions”.
For those who do not like snowy conditions, temperatures will start picking up towards the end of the week, reaching 8°C on Sunday.
