Christmas day has come and gone, which means the decorations start to come down
Christmas day has come and gone, and we are days closer to the decorations being put away for another year. While some people will pack their plastic Christmas trees away, some people with real trees will be searching for a place to get rid of them.
Across Cambridgeshire, there are many charities and organisations that will recycle your Christmas tree from this year.
Here are some you might want to consider:
Arthur Rank Hospice Charity
The Cherry Hinton-based charity is recycling Christmas trees. In order to have your tree recycled, people will need to register their interest, and then the trees will be collected.
The charity is collecting from these postcodes: CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, CB21, CB22, CB23, CB24, CB25, SG8, and SG19 3.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices
The East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices is collecting Christmas trees on Thursday, January 8 and Friday, January 9. It can collect trees from numerous postcodes in Cambridgeshire, as well as Norfolk and Suffolk.
People can check on the website if they will collect from their Cambridgeshire postcode.
Sue Ryder in Peterborough
The Sue Ryder charity in Peterborough will collect trees from people who register by January 4. It is collecting from these Peterborough postcodes: PE1, PE2, PE3, PE4, PE5, PE6, PE7, PE8 and PE9.
The Cambridge Christmas Tree Company
The Cambridge Christmas Tree Company will collect Christmas trees on January 6 and 7. People can register their interest on the website.
East Cambridgeshire District Council
People who live in East Cambridgeshire can leave their real Christmas trees alongside their green lidded bin throughout January. Before getting rid of the trees, people must remove all decorations, remove as many branches as possible and cut the trunk into pieces no wider than 6 inches/15cm diameter or higher than your wheeled bin.
Fenland District Council
Real Christmas trees can be disposed of in peoples garden waste bins, if they subscribe to the council’s garden waste service. Otherwise, they can be taken to a local recycling centre.
