Plans for a holiday let at Periwinkle Barn, Kelloe approved
An application was submitted to demolish and rebuild an outbuilding at Periwinkle Barn, Kelloe, into a dual-use building for both an annexe and short-term holiday letting.
Planning permission was granted by Durham County Council on January 7, meaning the structurally unsound outbuilding will be rebuilt.
However, the application faced objections from the Public Rights of Way team due to a footpath which crosses the site, with a suggested lack of clarity concerning the separation between the path and the driveway.
The council’s notice of approval lists seven conditions, including adherence to approved plans, a requirement for the annexe to be used ancillary to the main dwelling, and restrictions on holiday lets to short-term use only.
In addition, a register of occupants will need to be maintained.
The building, upon completion, will initially serve as living quarters for the applicant’s elderly mother before transitioning to a holiday let.
