Plans for pontoons in water by Hartlepool Marina lodged

Proposals have been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council to carry out waterfront connectivity and access works at Jackson’s Dock.

The application would see 300sqm of floating pontoons provided on the water, along with an additional walkway and ramp to connect the pontoons with the adjacent public realm.

A planning statement as part of the proposals submitted by the council outlines how the development will support existing site users and the leisure offer provided by the new Highlight active wellbeing hub when it opens later this year.

It said: “It is anticipated that the proposals will have a positive impact on the
development of the marina as a public venue.”

Council chiefs previously said Highlight will provide “connections for water-sports, utilising Hartlepool Marina”.

The application works would be undertaken as part of the “Hartlepool waterfront connectivity project”.

A decision is expected to be made on the proposals later this month.
