A range of different property types would be included in the plans
Detailed plans have been revealed for 172 new homes in Great Haddon. Vistry East Anglia submitted a reserved matters application to Peterborough City Council on November 28 for the new development.
It would form part of the wider Great Haddon settlement which was approved by the city council in 2015 and will eventually comprise 5,350 homes, a district shopping centre, three primary schools, one secondary school and other facilities.
The latest addition of 172 homes would, if approved, be located on land to the north of Norman Cross, London Road.
Of the 172 homes, 28 are proposed to be affordable, with the provision split between affordable rent and shared ownership.
A range of house types would be constructed, including one-bed houses, two and three-bed terraced, semi-detached and detached houses and four-bed large family homes.
A development area brief (DAB) compliance document, produced by Beau Urban Design, stated: “This well-needed housing would contribute towards one of Peterborough’s major growth areas and support the development of the Great Haddon community that is now underway.”
The 172 homes would make up phase four of the ‘M Land’. Vistry East Anglia’s land forms part of a wider ownership area at Great Haddon, jointly occupied by Vistry East Anglia and Vistry South East Midlands, referred to as the ‘M Land’.
The ‘M Land’ will see around 1,500 new homes built over the coming years, as well as a new primary school, a local centre (including the potential for a food store, nursery, cafe and other retail units), a community centre, large areas of open space and landscaping (including sports pitches, natural SUDS features and allotments), a bus route and other ancillary infrastructure.
The first two phases of development within the Vistry East Anglia land are currently approved and under construction, while the third phase, named Great Haddon East, is pending consideration by the council.
