Police appeal after woman, 95, tied up and threatened
The incident took place at 11am today, January 27, at an address on Belcroft Drive in Little Hulton.
Police say that a man entered a property after offering to clean a 95-year-old woman’s windows, before tying her hands together and demanding her cash and purse.
The man was disrupted when another woman who knew the victim arrived at the house, before he fled.
GMP says no injuries were reported and the woman is being supported by officers.
They say that extensive enquiries are ongoing and an additional police presence will be in the area in the coming days.
Officers have attended the scene and gathered evidence which is currently being assessed and acted upon.
Now, GMP is asking for any witnesses to come forward, including anyone with any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from around the area at the time, or anyone who saw anything suspicious.
The man is described as a white male and approximately in his late 60s to early 70s. He had short mousy brown hair which was combed back, no facial hair, glasses, and appeared well-kempt. He was wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans and dark-coloured shoes.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies from GMP’s Salford district said: “This was a vile incident in which a woman was tied up and threatened in an address, and we are determined to locate the man responsible.
“Thankfully, this was not a more serious situation and we commend the brave actions of the lady’s friend who confronted the man and called officers.
“As we progress this investigation, we are appealing for anyone with any information to please come forward. It could be something big or small– it all assists in our work.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101 or their Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk, quoting log 1082 of 27/01/26.
