Police crack down on anti-social behaviour in Goole
Neighbourhood police officers have dedicated 540 hours to reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour at five hotspots in Goole.
It came after Humberside Police were alerted to a group of people that had been harassing and distressing businesses and shoppers along Boothferry Road, Hook Road, Pasture Road, the town’s precinct and in other areas of Goole town centre.

A force spokesperson said: “Their behaviour would escalate when believed to be under the influence of alcohol and would include incidents of urinating and defecating in public, bad language and sometimes violence between each other.”
Acknowledging the issue, neighbourhood police officers and PCSOs teamed up with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s ASB and Homeless teams and local councillors and businesses to increase patrols in the town – enforcing Public Space Protection Orders and dispersal orders where necessary.
Persistent offenders were also handed Community Protection Warnings – formal notices that, if breached, could lead to fines and/or jail time.
One person, police have said, has since been given a two-year Community Behaviour Order, preventing them from entering a list of shops in the town centre.
The action has resulted in a reduction in reports of ASB in the town, Humberside Police have said.
A force spokesperson added: “We have received positive feedback from public and businesses due to the increased police presence in the area and our proactive response to the street drinkers.
“We would encourage residents to continue reporting and engaging with the teams when they see them out and about.
“You can also report incidents online or via our non-emergency number on 101 but always call 999 in an emergency of if a crime is ongoing.”
