Key facts as man left injured after horror pool cue attack in Livingston pub
What happened?: The horror altercation took place at the Tower Bar in the Craigshill area of the West Lothian town on November 8 – is said to have left staff at the venue close to tears. A group of men had been playing a game of pool at the venue before one male was violently assaulted with the cue.
What does CCTV show?: CCTV footage has shown the moment a man was brutally attacked with a pool cue inside a pub in Livingston. The clip shows a group of men playing a game of pool in the popular boozer before violence erupts. In the video, a man in a green top is seen walking away from the pool table. As he takes his first step, another man in red can be seen suddenly swinging a pool cue across his head with force. As the wood hits his skull, the victim then drops to the ground before the assailant tosses the pool cue to the floor. While the victim lays on the ground, the attacker is filmed towering over him uttering unknown words. He then walks out of the premises as other stunned revellers stand by.
What are the injuries? While the victim’s current condition is unknown, graphic images on social media show his head wrapped in a bandage and his face battered and bloody as well as a deep gash to his eyelid.
What has the pub said? Pub owner Frank McAlister told the Record: “This was an unfortunate incident involving two people who we know well and of whom neither have ever been in any trouble before. There was a disagreement in the heat of the moment before any of our team could act. A pool cue was swung and hit the side of another customer’s face leading to very bad injury. This was upsetting for everyone who witnessed it. The Tower Bar is a fantastic community pub and we do not ever condone behaviour of this kind, we are working with the police to help in any way we can. Our entire premises is covered by CCTV and this has been passed to the police.”
What have police said? Police confirmed they received a report about the assault on November 9. The full details from police are yet to be confirmed.
