Popular pie business closes Cardiff city centre restaurant

The restaurant has closed after over a decade of serving pie and mash on Cardiff’s high street

A popular restaurant in Cardiff city centre has closed after its owner went into administration. Pieminister on Cardiff’s St Mary Street has shut after being open on the high street for over a decade. Pieminister added Cardiff to the list of their UK locations in 2014, joining London, Bath, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent.

Now the only Welsh restaurant of the chain has closed its doors following the owner, Eleven27 Ltd, filing for administration. The popular pie restaurant was set up by Bristol friends Tris and Jon, who have been baking together since 2003.

Eleven27 Ltd owns both Pieminister Cardiff and Pieminister Bath, meaning that due to the company going into administration, the chain will lose both restaurants. Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here

In June 2025, the company appointed a voluntary liquidator and on July 17, they filed for administration, closing the Cardiff location.

A letter has been posted in the building by DAC Beachcroft LLP asking for goods inside the property to be removed.

It states that if the goods were not removed by Eleven27 Ltd by September 5, 2025 then they would be disposed of or sold, however tables and chairs can still be seen inside the deserted restaurant.
