The Prime Minister led the school children in the viral 6-7 dance and was told off by a headteacher on a visit to a school
The Prime Minister has apologised for encouraging Cambridgeshire schoolchildren to do a viral meme dance during a visit. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer visited Welland Academy in Peterborough on Monday (November 24) after it was announced the Government would be expanding the free school meals scheme.
On his visit, alongside the Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson, the PM sat down with Year Two children in class to read with them. During this sit down, he led some children in the viral ‘6-7’ dance.
The viral dance was made popular by Generation Alpha. The PM uploaded a video to his Instagram showing him doing the dance with pupils.
The post, which was captioned “I think I just got myself put in detention…” The video showed Principal Jo Anderson telling off the PM.
In the video, as the PM left the classroom, Principal Anderson said: “Thanks Prime Minister for that lovely 6-7. You know children get in trouble for saying that in our school.”
The PM, looking surprised, said: “Oh do they!” As Principal Anderson and the PM left the classroom, the PM said he was “sorry about that”.
