Raby Castle cricket club to ‘demolish and rebuild’ pavilion
The application, submitted by Stephen Caygill on behalf of the club, outlines proposals for the current pavilion to be demolished and replaced at the cricket ground in Raby Park, Staindrop, Durham.
The new structure will retain the same traditional materials as the existing one, including stained timber cladding and wooden casement windows, but will feature a new Burlington Blue riven slate roof.
Floor space is set, which the club says will provide more room for local community use.
The proposed new pavilion will replace an earlier approved extension plan that was deemed unfeasible.
It will include a pitched roof with a clock, larger changing rooms, an accessible toilet, female facilities, and improved refreshment and social space.
The project is seen as necessary to ensure the long-term use of the cricket club and compliance with England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) standards.
A planning application was submitted on November 14.
Durham County Council will make a decision on the plans in the coming weeks.
