Redcar RNLI ladies guild members honoured for volunteering
The Redcar Lifeboat Ladies Guild was honoured by the Redcar RNLI crew during a recent gathering, marking decades of unwavering support and fundraising.
Since forming in 1921, the guild has raised thousands of pounds through community events and has long supported Redcar RNLI’s Flag Day, helping to run stalls and create a lively atmosphere.

During the event, Redcar RNLI chairman Dave Cocks presented long-service badges to six members, including mother and daughter Jenny and Linda Emmerson, who each received badges for 50 years of service.
Annie Briggs and Barbara Maenami were recognised for 30 years, while Joan Fairweather and Val Knaggs were thanked for 20 years each.
Mr Cocks said: “It was a great honour to present members of Redcar RNLI Ladies Guild with their long service badges.
“Lifeboat Ladies’ Guilds were officially recognised in 1921 and they’ve been the mainstay of our fundraising effort ever since.
“It’s remarkable to think that, between the six ladies who received their awards, there is over 200 years of dedicated service.
“It was a special privilege to present mother and daughter Jenny and Linda Emmerson with their 50-year long service badges.
“It can’t have happened very often that a combined 100 years of fundraising is recognised in this way.”
