Ripon: extensive search after car found in river near Sharow

Fire crews from Ripon, Harrogate and water rescue units from Skipton and Selby were called by police to an incident in Sharow Lane, Sharow, near Ripon, at 9.27 on Wednesday (December 24).

Upon arrival, crews found a car that was partially submerged in the river.

A service spokesperson said: “It’s front end was in the river.

“An extensive search was carried out by water rescue teams together with a full bankside search which resulted in no persons located.   

“The police then received confirmation that the owners of the vehicle were safe and accounted for.”

The incident has since been left with the police.
