Robert Power arrested in Scarborough after burglary
Robert Power, 44, of Castle Road in Scarborough, was sentenced to three years and three months behind bars today (December 16, 2025) at York Crown Court.
Power, who pleaded guilty after appearing before magistrates last month, targeted a house in Roscoe Street, Scarborough, at around 4.30am on Sunday, August 31 this year.

He entered the house through an unlocked door and took items from inside.
CCTV inquiries then tracked his movements from around the time of the burglary, which showed him making his way into the town centre on foot before he was stopped by police.
The officer wanted to speak to Robert regarding other matters, but their suspicions were raised as he had what appeared to be a large rectangle shape down the front of his tracksuit bottoms.

After stopping and searching him, the force recovered the woman’s laptop, plus her handbag and purse in a rucksack, and arrested Robert Power on suspicion of burglary.
After identifying the items, the victim confirmed that her address had been burgled when officers visited her after the arrest was made.
Detective Constable Darrel Temple, from Scarborough and Ryedale CID, said: “Power is a prolific offender who has caused significant upset and anxiety for the victim of his crime.
“Thanks to the excellent work of our local policing team in Scarborough, who spotted him in strange circumstances later that morning, we were able to arrest Power before he had the chance to sell the goods on.
“We hope the victim can take some comfort knowing he has been forced to face justice.”
